“We produce our ceramic (or zirconia) implants from hard zirconium oxide ATZ (Alumina Toughened Zirconia) blanks manufactured by hot isostatic pressing.”
From Hard Machining to World-Class Ceramic Zirconia Dental Implants
“No thermal sintering or post-processing takes place after the final shaping of the outer and inner geometry of the dental implant. This ensures that no further changes can occur in the material structure. This hard machining technology (in German “Hartbearbeitung”) is very complex, requires a great deal of experience and enables a high shaping accuracy and precision. Overall, it is a great pleasure to use a world-class technology to produce a world-class product,” Martin Merkli, Head of Production, says.
Zeramex takes pride in the production process of their Ceramic Zirconia dental implants. The process begins with the selection of high-grade zirconia powder, which is transformed into hard zirconium oxide ATZ (Alumina Toughened Zirconia) blanks using hot isostatic pressing. This advanced technique ensures that the blanks are strong and durable, able to withstand the rigors of the manufacturing process.
Once the blanks have been created, specialized equipment and techniques to shape and machine the final implant design are used.
This hard machining technology, known as “Hartbearbeitung” in German, requires a great deal of experience and expertise to execute accurately and precisely. It is indeed a complex process, but one that Zeramex believes is vital to producing a world-class product.
After the shaping and machining process is complete, the dental implants are subject to rigorous testing and inspection to ensure that they meet the strict quality standards.
Thermal sintering or post-processing on the implants is no longer performed after this point, ensuring that no further changes can occur in the material structure. This helps to ensure the durability and reliability of our implants, which are designed to provide long-lasting support for dental prosthetics.
