It is suggested that patients should be seen for a dental cleaning and routine exam every 6 months or as recommended by Dr. Schirmer. We will thoroughly clean your teeth to remove plaque and calculus. Potentially, we may take X-rays to detect cavities between your teeth that cannot be seen by the naked eye.
Though your mouth may feel healthy periodontal disease can progress without a patient knowing. If left untreated, periodontal disease can destroy the supporting bones in your mouth. Early treatment and prevention is key. Dr. Schirmer will routinely make sure your oral health is at its best to avoid future periodontal disease.
Dental x-rays are a great preventive, diagnostic tool that provides important information not visible during a routine dental exam. We use x-rays to safely and accurately check for dental problems that would otherwise go unnoticed, and start your treatment as soon as possible.
Fluoride treatments are quick, simple, and can be easily applied to your teeth without scheduling a new appointment. Fluoride is a mineral that prevents tooth decay and strengthens enamel.
Sealants are a way to prevent decay on the biting surfaces of teeth. They are typically placed on the permanent molars as they erupt in a child’s mouth and are maintained throughout childhood, lasting into adulthood. Sealants are made of a flowable resin that is applied to the deep pits and fissures of teeth. protecting them from harmful acids and plaque build up. The application is quick and requires a short appointment.
We use composite fillings to fix decayed, fractures, and cracked teeth. In one appointment, the injured tooth will be removed, cleaned, and filled to match the color of your existing tooth. These fillings are aesthetically a great choice, and will be unnoticeable within your newly healthy smile.
Schirmer Dentistry utilizes a variety of dermal filler products like BOTOX® and Juvéderm® to help patients add volume to their face and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. When it comes to dermal fillers, we believe patient education is key. We encourage patients to ask questions and take time to fully understand the benefits of these products.
Dermal fillers generally last from 6 to 18 months depending on the patient, and are commonly used on:
BOTOX® is used to help smooth fine lines and wrinkles that form on a person’s face, for a more youthful and radiant look. What most people don’t know is that BOTOX is also useful for helping treat cases of TMJ, bruxism, and migraines. Since BOTOX is a muscle relaxant it can help decrease the muscle contractions occurring in the face that cause TMJ and other facial pains. Experience relief today!
Juvéderm® is used to erase the deep smile lines that form at the side of a person’s mouth, as well as wrinkles found at the bottom of the nose by adding volume to your face. It’s for lip augmentations, and to fill in any voids or visible scars on the face.
The microdermabrasion procedure involves partially or completely removing the stratum corneum (the dead, outermost surface of the skin) by light abrasion. The removed material and particles are removed through a hand piece/wand through which the abrasive particles are applied.
This procedure is used to lessen or remove scars, dark spots, and sun damaged skin. It is not very painful and does not require anesthetic. Most patients find this procedure and its results to be very satisfying. Patients with extremely sensitive skin, diabetes, skin inflammation, bacterial infections, cuts and abrasions, vascular conditions, or anyone who has had a BOTOX treatment within the last 72 hours, should not have microdermabrasion done.
