Kempter Holistic Dentistry (KHD) is a biologically minded IAOMT accredited practice founded by Dr. John Kempter in 2011. Dr. John’s brother, Dr. Eric Kempter, joined our team in 2016 making us truly a family practice. In April of 2019 we announced our second location in South Charlotte. Most recently, in the summer of 2020, we welcomed our new associate dentist, Dr. Erin Wilbanks. We are very excited that we can provide our holistic dental approach across the Charlotte region and for the growth we have had over the years.
Virtual 3D implant planning
We use the latest 3D digital technology to virtually plan your dental implant placement. This eliminates the need for dental impressions.
Minimally invasive approach
Our method drastically reduces the risk of the procedure and also reduces healing time. In most procedures this approach allows for no incisions and no stitches.
All-on-4 implant option (full cosmetic permanent implant bridges)
All-on-4 is an implant option where we can replace a patient’s teeth permanently with a minimum number of implants. In some cases just 4 implants are needed. Using our 3D technology the implants can be placed with precision making the procedure easier and more comfortable than the traditional approach. This is a life changing procedure for a patient that gives them a second chance for teeth.
Metal-free implant options
We are one of only a few practices nationwide that are offering a metal-free dental implant option. The implant is made of zirconia, which is a ceramic. The material is as strong as titanium and studies show the success rate of zirconia implants is the same as titanium (above 98% at 15 years). The benefit of a zirconia implant is a biocompatible material for all.
There are many great holistic dental products on the market that you can find easily at places like Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, EarthFare, and Target. When you are looking for holistic dental products you want to avoid these ingredients when possible: parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, phthalates , fluoride, and artificial colors. We do offer 3 brands in the office for your convenience.
OralDNA- MyPerioPath
MyPerioPath is a laboratory test that identifies and measures harmful bacteria in your mouth. Bacteria detected by MyPerioPath can also help identify additional risks to your overall health.
Invisalign allows us to move teeth and correct your bite without the use of metal wires and brackets. Along with achieving a perfect smile, Invisalign can also help improve:
Gum health
TMJ pain/problems
Ability to clean teeth and reduce plaque build up
Solve issues with clenching and grinding
Trauma or injury, bad orthodontics/dentistry, chronic tooth wear, and grinding or clenching are a few of the reasons why people suffer from jaw pain. We use a dental orthotic like a retainer to “deprogram” your jaw from the bad position it is in. The deprogrammer prevents interlocking of the teeth and therefore allows the patient’s lower jaw to gradually relax and settle into an ideal position with relation to the teeth. It is a great non-surgical option that is based on the lasted research in biologic tempomandibular joint treatment.
Patients that are successfully deprogrammed will experience an increased quality of life as a result of a more efficient bite position and may have less facial/joint pain as well as reduced incidences of worn, broken or loose teeth.
Up-to-date x-rays from a previous practice or new x-rays will be taken. We have the lowest dose digital x-ray systems on the market today. Customary x-rays include a CBCT (3D panoramic x-ray) and 4 bitewing x-rays.
We do try to minimize the amount of x-rays taken, however, x-rays are important diagnostic tools that help us provide our patients with the best treatment and maintain optimal oral health.
No, our polishing paste and any other products used are fluoride free.
Our dentists are members of the IAOMT and use the SMART protocol for the safe removal of mercury fillings.
