Dental implants

Dental implants are highly favored as the preferred method for replacing missing teeth. But they do require a certain type of environment to work properly. Ideal candidates for implants have adequate bone level, a healthy oral environment and are also in good general health. If you have lost bone due to gum disease, chronic tooth loss or other factors, you may need a bone grafting procedure first to rebuild the bone your new implants will need for success.

Dental implants offer unique benefits that include:

  • Restoration of biting function
  • Unparalleled stability and durability
  • Natural, esthetic appearance
  • Enjoyment of favorite foods
  • Permanent tooth replacement with proper care
  • Improved quality of life
  • Greater self-confidence
  • Preservation of jaw bone health

Gum Disease

Gum Disease increases the risk of heart disease, placing those with the oral condition at a 50 percent higher chance of having a heart attack. Researchers believe harmful bacteria from the mouth travel through the bloodstream, possibly contributing to inflammation within the cardiovascular system. It is also believed that this inflammatory response influences the increased risk of stroke in gum disease patients.

Laser Gum Disease Treatment.

Gum Disease Threatens More Than Your Smile. Gum disease is a serious oral condition affecting nearly half of all U.S. adults age 30 and over. Caused by hundreds of types of harmful oral bacteria, its effects extend well beyond the smile. Gum disease not only leads to loss of bone that supports the teeth – the progressive infection is the number one cause of adult tooth loss today. It is also linked to several systemic health conditions, including heart disease, stroke and diabetes, among others. Given its concerning effects, treating gum disease in a timely manner is extremely important. Our board-certified periodontist has extensive experience in restoring gum health with advanced techniques, including laser gum disease treatment.
