Dr. Kopman received his D.D.S. from the State University of New York, Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He then received a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Periodontology and a Master of Medical Sciences in Oral Biology from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Upon graduation from Harvard, Dr. Kopman was a finalist in the Baliant Orban Research Competition for his research on the effect of diabetes on wound healing around dental implants and received the Gerald M. Kramer Scholarship for excellence from the Academy of Periodontology, which is awarded to a single graduate in Periodontics nationally, who demonstrated academic and clinical excellence. Dr. Kopman has presented both his research and clinical endeavors at numerous symposia and has coauthored publications in the American Academy of Periodontology- Annals of Periodontology, the New York State Dental Bulletin, Compendium, and the Journal of Periodontology. Dr. Kopman formerly taught as a clinical instructor at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and was an attending resident at Children’s Hospital in Boston. Dr. Kopman is currently Clinical Director at the New York Insitute of Advanced Dental Studies and Past-President of the Long Island Academy of Periodontology. In addition, Dr. Kopman serves as a guest editor for both Compendium and the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry and is on the editorial board of Clinical Implant Dentistry. Most importantly, Dr. Kopman devotes his life to his family and his patients!
