Dr. Steinberg graduated from the New York University College of Dentistry and joined the faculty of the Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery shortly after. While at Columbia, he earned an MS from the Institute of Human Nutrition and became a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellow in nutrition research. He began his private practice in West New York in 1989 while continuing to teach graduate and postgraduate dentists, and publish studies on periodontal disease, dental caries and nutrition at the Center for Clinical Research in Dentistry at Columbia University and later in the Division of Oral Biology of the New Jersey Dental School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
In 2014, Dr. Steinberg became CEDH certified in homeopathy. Dr. Steinberg is also highly active in the environmental movement, concerned that the level of illness we see today is related to deterioration of our food supply and the impacts of climate change. He has served on the steering committee for 350NJ and as chair of the social action committee of the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County.
