Losing even a single tooth leads to a cascade of effects that impact your ability to eat, your facial appearance, and your self-confidence. While traditional tooth replacements like bridges or dentures are a viable option for some patients, many patients are turning to dental implants with Dr. Carimi in Charleston, SC, for their life-changing benefits and versatility.
Dental implants are unique in their ability to replicate both the root and crown portions of teeth and can address tooth loss to any extent. As a highly-trained and skilled implant dentist, Dr. Robert Carimi routinely places and restores single dental implants, full-arch replacements affixed with dental implants, and implant-supported dentures. He is ready to bring the functional and esthetic qualities of natural teeth back to your smile!
Dental implants consist of a titanium screw (that acts as a tooth root) and a lifelike crown, full arch, or denture restorations (the portions visible in the mouth). Implants integrate with the bone to form a solid and stable connection over the course of about four to six months, after which we permanently attach the appropriate implant restoration.
Unlike other tooth replacement options, dental implants integrate with the jaw just like tooth roots, help preserve jawbone health, and most closely replicate natural teeth in look, feel, and function. Implants offer permanent, comfortable, and extremely stable tooth replacement, among other life-changing benefits.
Dr. Carimi uses 3D CBCT imaging to plan the exact position of dental implants and guided implant surgery to precisely insert implants within the jaw bone. These techniques create a minimally invasive procedure, but we do offer IV sedation, complimentary nitrous oxide, and other options to ensure your total comfort during your implant visit.
Even if you have jawbone loss, you can still be a candidate for dental implants! Dr. Carimi is highly skilled at replacing lost bone and preparing the jaw for implant success with advanced bone grafting techniques.
Dental implants can replace any number of missing teeth, from one to an entire arch. But just because you have multiple missing teeth does not necessarily mean you need an implant for each missing tooth. For instance, we can replace an entire arch of missing teeth with only four to six implants and the attachment of a full arch prosthetic, or two to six implants and an affixed full denture.
The cost of dental implants in Charleston, SC, varies depending on several factors, including the number of teeth to place, the need for tooth extractions or bone grafting, type of implant procedure, and overall oral health. A consultation with our team can determine what your personal implant cost might be.
In general, dental implants take about four to six months to fully heal and fuse with the bone. However, the timeframe from beginning the implant process to final restoration depends on whether you need bone grafting, other preparatory procedures, and the type and number of implants your need. As a full-service implant practice, we can complete your entire implant procedure in our comfortable state-of-the-art practice, and often perform tooth extractions and bone grafting the same day as implant surgery.
Dental implants are cared for exactly like real teeth! Proper brushing, flossing, and regular cleanings typically are all that is necessary to maintain your dental implants.
A personalized consultation with Dr. Carimi is how to begin! We take time to listen to your concerns and smile preferences, provide a thorough radiographic and clinical evaluation, and present the implant options best-suited for you. When can then get started with your tooth replacement whenever you are ready!
