What are dental implants?

Dental Implants are tooth replacements that are permanently fixed into your jaw. A metal implant is placed where the root of a lost tooth was and after some time to heal, it is ready to support a tooth replacement. Because they are attached more securely, dental implants look and feel much just like your other natural teeth.

A dental implant also helps to prevent bone loss in the jaw. A jawbone requires natural force that your teeth normally provide to maintain its shape. A dental implant provides the force needed to maintain the jawbone and helps to retain your healthy face shape.

What is a ceramic implant?

Ceramic implants are 100% metal-free and closely approximate the natural tooth root in terms of aesthetics and function. They are  completely free of metallic corrosion and conduct neither electricity nor heat.

For patients concerned about having metals in their mouths, we offer these as a more biocompatible option. The ceramic also blends in easier with the rest of the mouth and can help avoid the obvious appearance of having a dental implant.

Dental Crowns

Crowns are a dental restoration that acts like a cap over a tooth. Well prepared crowns are durable and blend in with the rest of a wonderful smile.

Laser Dentistry

We use dental lasers for some treatment of gum disease which usually results in less discomfort and swelling.

Teeth Whitening

For patients who want a brighter smile we recommend starting with ZOOM! whitening in our office and maintaining that color with home bleaching.

Veneers

Veneers are used to restore broken, chipped or discolored teeth. They can also be used to adjust the shape of a normal tooth for a better looking smile.

Invisalign

For patients who want a brilliant new smile without the ugly traditional metal braces, our office offers Invisalign clear aligners.

Q Why do teeth discolor over time?

There are lots of reasons why teeth discolor over time. Whiteness in teeth can diminish as exposure to foods, wine, coffee, sodas, berries can stain and cause your teeth to change color. Teeth whitening can remove these stains and restore the brightness of your smile.

Q How does whitening gel work?

The active ingredient in bleaching is some form of peroxide. Peroxides help remove surface and deep surface stains and allow the white parts of the teeth to shine through again. Whitening that is done in a dental office tends to have faster results due to the increased concentration of peroxides and is usually aided by a light.

Zoom! whitening sessions can vary depending on many color shades a patient would like to change but most of our appointments last about an hour. We apply our whitening material and application light for our patients and monitor their comfort during the whitening.

While our whitening process is meant to prevent as much discomfort as possible, your teeth might still be sensitive for a few days after whitening. If you experience any discomfort for a longer period please contact us.

Q How can I keep my smile nice and bright?

Avoid eating and drinking lots of wine, coffee, sports drinks, energy drinks, tea and dark berries. Drinking lots of water while eating or drinking any staining foods can also help minimize the impact of staining on your teeth. Of course, refraining or limiting smoking will also help keep your teeth as white as possible.

Periodic whitening will be required as teeth will naturally darken a little bit over time. We can help set you up with a whitening trays and gel that can be used at home that will keep your teeth as white as you like!
